Families in Britain are facing the threat of financially crippling energy bills. Sadly, heating bills have become so high that today that thousands of families in Britain are being forced to live in damp, cold conditions, or; face the threat of financially crippling energy bills.​

Regardless of whether you’re a homeowner or private renting, you could end up receiving free home improvements courtesy of the ECO scheme

Launched in 2013, the scheme was set up to allow low-income households, as well as households who receive certain state benefits, to receive free heating upgrades. You may also be entitled to free home improvements such as loft insulation.

SOLID EXTERNAL WALL INSULATION

Nearly half the heat lost from some solidwalled houses (those without a wall cavity) escapes through the walls. Insulating these walls keeps the warmth in for longer and makes homes more comfortable and cheaper to heat

Average costs and savings Externally insulating your home costs on average £12,000, though this depends on the size of the building and the number of outside walls being insulated. It is likely to be more expensive than internal wall insulation because the cost of material and labour are higher. A typical 3-bedroom semi-detached house using gas heating could save around £558 per year on heating bills by installing external wall insulation and a detached house around £708 per year (figures from the National Housing Model).

How do I know I’m eligible for the government’s FREE energy scheme?
